Dr. Jesse Bloom is currently a Beckman Fellow at the California Institute of Technology, where his research focuses on the molecular evolution of influenza evolution. He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the California Institute of Technology, where he studied the engineering of proteins by the technique of directed evolution.  Prior to that, he received an MPhil in Theoretical Chemistry from Cambridge University, and a B.S. in Biological Chemistry from the University of Chicago.
