
Dr. Megan Shaw is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. She studied Biochemistry and Microbiology at the University of Cape Town, South Africa and received her Ph.D in Virology from the University of Glasgow, Scotland in 2002. She joined Dr. Peter Palese’s laboratory as a post-doctoral fellow and since becoming independent, Dr. Shaw has focused on the cellular requirements for influenza virus replication and how this knowledge may be exploited for the development of new anti-influenza virus drugs. Dr. Shaw has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and is currently PI or co-investigator on NIH-grants focused on high-throughput screens. Dr. Shaw has served on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Virology since 2005 and she co-authored the Orthomyxoviridae chapter in the 5th Edition of Fields Virology.
